Our regular readers might remember that we had reported about Lamborghini getting the name ‘Deimos’ trademarked. Back then, we had wondered if the upcoming Lambo SUV will be christened as Deimos. However, the latest development about this eagerly awaited car is that it will be called the ‘Urus’ and not ‘Deimos’. We had mentioned that the Deimos is the God of thunder and horror but we had no clue how it related with the bulls but Urus is indeed a name of a bull and hence, it makes more sense too. The new SUV is rumoured to be five metre long and have the power of 600 horses. The car is being said to become the fastest 4×4 ever.

Skoda India Launches Fabia Scout

Skoda India Launches Fabia Scout @ INR 6.79 Lakhs

Skoda Fabia Scout
It is no secret that Skoda Fabia never took the hatchback segment in India by storm. Skoda recently resorted to some aggressive price cutting & promotion and that did help but the car is still far from being as popular as the Suzuki Swift, which flies out of the showrooms. To complicate matters even more, parent manufacturer Volkswagen introduced the Polo some years ago and Fabia suddenly started feeling pretty dated. However, Skoda India is in no mood to give up on Fabia yet and has launched the Skoda Fabia Scout in the country.
Scout version of Skoda cars are rugged and strong looking versions of Skoda car with bigger wheels, more SUV-like visuals, enhanced ground clearance and in some cases, bigger engines too. The Skoda Fabia Scout too belong to the same category. Its robust good looks add to this practical small car, thanks to its evocative, specially designed bumpers and off-road design. Black and silver roof rails and protective plastic coverings along its flanks make the Škoda Fabia Scout a particularly characterful car.
Distinctive Scout styling also features in the passenger compartment: The Scout comes with new leather upholstery and stainless steel pedals. In essence, the Scout, inside and out, is a more rugged and bolder variant of the Fabia.
Fabia Scout Price (Ex showroom, Delhi):
1.2L MPI: Rs 6.79 Lakh
1.2L TDI: 8.10 Lakh

2013 Toyota Corolla: Images and details

2014 Toyota Corolla front end
In many parts of the world, C is as much for Corolla as it is for the word Car. What with the Jap auto giant coming up with umpteenth variants of the popular car. Now, a couple of popular websites have come up with some  details about the 2013 model of Toyota Corolla. From the design perspective, the current car has surely aged, albeit, gracefully and needs to soon get a replacement. Here, we have a few images of the car (internal codename A140). The basic design form of the headlights resembles that of the Asian version of the new Toyota Camry. Also, the images show a minimal shoulder line that does not appears wider than 1700 mm. This might be a move to receive cheaper yearly tax in Japan (Called 5No.). It is only at C pillar that the car has the trace of current gen version. Coming to the rear, the tail lights almost scream Chevrolet Sonic.
Our sources tell that the interiors will remind us of that on Asian Camry and will come with automatic climate control with LCD display, Wooden finish, Navigation system and multifunction steering wheel.
We see the D segment of our market hotting up with fair chances of this car and the new Honda Civic being here in next couple of years.

Enzo replacement will feature fuel-saving gasoline-electric system

Automotive News -- April 26, 2012

BEIJING -- Ferrari will offer its first gasoline-electric hybrid system in 2013. The technology will be featured in the as-yet-unnamed car that will replace the limited-edition Enzo.
"We are entering the market with our Formula One-derived hybrid system, which will slash fuel consumption and increase performance," Ferrari CEO Amedeo Felisa told Automotive News Europe on the sidelines of the auto show here this week.
Ferrari said that in testing, its so-called "HY-KERS" hybrid has slashed fuel consumption by about 40 percent while decreasing the time it takes to accelerate from 0 to 200kph by about 3 seconds compared with a Ferrari model without the system.
Felisa said the HY-KERS system adds about 120kg to a car. The Fiat subsidiary will compensate for some of that weight gain by cutting kilograms from the car's chassis and powertrain. Felisa said the new car's chassis will have the same grade of carbon fiber found in Ferrari's F1 cars. That carbon fiber is lighter and more durable than the grade already used in the Enzo's and F50's chassis and body, the CEO said.
South Korea's Samsung Electronics will provide its lithium ion cells to Ferrari, which will put them together in its own battery packs at its F1 racing headquarters in Fiorano, near Modena, northern Italy.
